Gollum was the ring's "destroyer" not Frodo

As Tolkien tells the story early, Frodo intended to throw the ring into Mt. Doom. However, when Frodo actually got there and had the opportunity, he did not do so.

It took Gollum to bite the ring from Frodo's hand and fall into Mt. Doom with it. Saying RP matches Frodo (he's not that short) may not be such a compliment. The One ring (the state) only truly belonged to Sauron (Evil) and lust for its power would act to turn all bearers.

Much like Boromir, who died a hero's death defending Merry and Pippin, Frodo had the ring taken from his grasp by actions other than his own.

As Gandalf said, "Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many."

No one should rule others. Again quoting Gandalf with my favorite line from Tolkien (probably my favorite author), "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

I now choose to spend my time on things unrelated to direct involvement in politics.
