I Really Miss You Guys ...

Sunni's picture

After Jorge’s gentle nudge, I’ve returned to the project of updating the old Greymatter posts. Mostly I’m just adding tags to them and reassigning appropriate authorship where necessary ... but for some reason those old posts aren’t included in searches until I add tags. Weird.

Anyway, the travels down memory lane have left me missing several people this morning ... most notably, Ian (of the lost and lamented Ianism), Morpheus of The Statrix, freeman, and formerly regular commenters “Laura” and “Herself”. I also miss Kirsten’s Poddy Talk podcasts ... She shared some schemes she’s plotting with me a while back, so I can patiently wait to see what hatches there.

There are more, of course ... this isn’t an exhaustive list. If any of you drop by here from time to time still, I hope you’re doing well, and I hope you know you’re missed.

Hmmmm

It wasn't intended as a nudge, but I'm glad you are updating the old posts. Lots of good stuff there. I also miss Kirsten’s Poddy Talk. I look forward to her new project.

Nudge

Since I know Kirsten comments here, I thought I'd give her a nudge. I'm glad I'm not the only one who misses Poddy Talk. Every time I think about her asking Jacqueline Mackey Paisley Passey to say her name 3 times real fast, I have to smile. I loved that interview and the one with Sunni.

I didn’t think so ...

... but I started it a while back and was making good progress before getting sidetracked; so it was definitely time to restart the process. Your comment was all it took to set it in motion. Thanks!

And Kirsten ... are you enjoying all this Poddy Talk love? :-D

I'll second that...

I'll second (or third, or whatever) the vote for Poddy Talk!

Not to mention

... that Poddy Talk is the best podcast name ever! I miss the critter and Ian and all the rest, too.

Thanks for all the poddy

Thanks for all the poddy love. Poddy Talk is not coming back. Frankly, it became too much of a pain in the butt for various reasons including (1) it being hard to arrange interviews and conduct them, (2) one of my interviews being destroyed when my last computer bit the dust without me having backed up, (3) someone I interviewed being an ass and pestering me on a regular basis about his interview, and (4) people taking it too darned seriously.

However, I will be resurrecting my favorite part of poddy talk as a podcast of its very own- The 60 Second Rant. It turns out that it is very hard to prepare a good, satisfying rant ahead of time and then spill it out passionately on command. Better to feel that rant rising up from the belly, and record it as it overflows from the mouth without first being thought out and self-edited. That's what a good rant is all about. It's not supposed to be a carefully-worded five-paragraph essay vocally regurgitated in the space of a minute. I just need to be inspired to record a couple of rants, put a blog up, and then start inviting rants from anyone who wants to submit them. In fact, maybe a rant about rants will be my first one. Anyway, if anyone feels particularly ranty, feel free to record it and I will shortly let you know how to get me an .mp3. Ranty rants only, though. I mean it.

I will also have a music-related podcast soon centered around an experience I had earlier this year that really inspired me. That's taking a little more work, and it's the one I have been putting together already but don't have any episodes ready to go.

I miss freeman, too. I also miss Jac who I didn't get to see before I left Arizona and whose blogging is somewhat sparse.

Rants

Rants are fun. And therapeutic, too!
