My, my, my. The bad news has been mounting fast for all the healthocrats protecting the USSA flock. Crows might become an endangered species soon. It could happen ... if all the nanny-ninnies were intellectually honest enough to admit that they’ve been wrong for decades.
A while back, I read a news article stating that our oh-so-caring healthocrats were backing off the fluoridated water issue ... seems some research they deigned to accept has shown problems with it. Unfortunately but not surprisingly, I’ve been unable to find a decent news article to link to on this subject. Strike one for our protectors.
Yesterday, Astoria at The Boondocks alerted me to strike two: Primate model for autism. Here’s almost the entire article, minus links, emphasis mine:
A primate model for autism using the U.S. children's immunization schedule was unveiled at the International Meeting For Autism Research (IMFAR) this weekend.
The research underscores the critical need for studies into vaccine safety and the immune and mitochondrial dysfunction of autistic children. The National Autism Association (NAA) questions why the government hasn't undertaken these vital studies and why researchers have had to depend on private money to perform this critical science that will surely impact the health of millions of children worldwide.
While the authors and organizations associated with this study are withholding comment until publication, University of Pittsburgh's Dr. Laura Hewitson, Ph.D., described at the IMFAR meeting how vaccinated animals, when compared to unvaccinated animals, showed significant neurodevelopmental deficits and "significant associations between specific aberrant social and non-social behaviors, isotope binding, and vaccine exposure."
Researchers also reported at the scientific meeting that "vaccinated animals exhibited progressively severe chronic active inflammation whereas unexposed animals did not" and found "many significant differences in the GI tissue gene expression profiles between vaccinated and unvaccinated animals." Gastrointestinal issues are a common symptom of children with regressive autism.
NAA calls for the NIH to conduct large scale, non-epidemiological studies into the biomedical symptoms surrounding young children and all vaccines, including those containing the mercury-based preservative thimerosal and other additives like aluminum.
This request for further research echoes that of Dr. Bernadine Healy, Former NIH Director in a CBS interview earlier this week. "I think public health officials have been too quick to dismiss the hypothesis as 'irrational,' without sufficient studies of causation... without studying the population that got sick," Healy said. "I have not seen major studies that focus on 300 kids who got autistic symptoms within a period of a few weeks of the vaccines."
Recently the government's vaccine court conceded the case of Hannah Poling, admitting that vaccines triggered her regression into autism by exacerbating mitochondrial dysfunction. "The recent Poling case and this new research provide further evidence that the CDC has fallen down on their job to protect children from harm. The biomedical research to date suggests that parental reports of regression following vaccination is not only plausible, but likely in certain individuals," said Scott Bono, NAA Chairman. "To date, the CDC has conducted no safety testing on the possible harmful effects of simultaneously administering multiple vaccines to infants, and has steadfastly refused to state a preference for mercury-free vaccines to be given to children and pregnant women. It's time for HHS and Congress to step in and take vaccine safety away from the CDC."
For some individuals, removing the mercury, aluminum, and other possible harmful substances from vaccines and/or reworking the vaccination schedule so newborns aren’t assaulted with so many vaccines so early would be enough to restore their confidence in the efficacy of vaccination. Others question the utility of the vaccine approach to disease prevention outside of true epidemics. I recall that my own research into the matter, conducted when Snolf the First was incubating and updated when Snolf the Second was in the oven and was suspected to be a girl, led me to conclude that some vaccinations were probably more helpful than others. But I’ve yet to learn of a doctor who would let the parents selectively vaccinate—and in any case, we were absolutely unwilling to inject any foreign substances into our newborns, instead believing that the immunity conferred naturally via breastfeeding would be best for our children. And it has been; they are unvaccinated still, and remarkably healthy and hardy.
And strike three—one I particularly delight in, as my otherwise excellent dentist dismissed my concerns on this issue: Mercury teeth fillings may harm some: FDA. Excerpts of the Reuters article, all emphasis mine:
Silver-colored metal dental fillings contain mercury that may cause health problems in pregnant women, children and fetuses, the Food and Drug Administration said on Wednesday after settling a related lawsuit.
As part of the settlement with several consumer advocacy groups, the FDA agreed to alert consumers about the potential risks on its website and to issue a more specific rule next year for fillings that contain mercury, FDA spokeswoman Peper Long said. ....
"Dental amalgams contain mercury, which may have neurotoxic effects on the nervous systems of developing children and fetuses," the FDA said in a notice on its Web site.
"Pregnant women and persons who may have a health condition that makes them more sensitive to mercury exposure, including individuals with existing high levels of mercury bioburden, should not avoid seeking dental care, but should discuss options with their health practitioner," the agency said.
The FDA said it did not recommend that people who currently have mercury fillings get them removed.
The FDA must issue the new rules in July 2009, Long said. ....
The new rule will give the agency "special controls (that) can provide reasonable assurance of the safety and effectiveness of the product," Long said. ....
While the FDA previously said various studies showed no harm from mercury fillings, some consumer groups contend the fillings can trigger a range of health problems such as multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer's disease. In 2006, an FDA advisory panel of outside experts said most people would not be harmed by them, but said the agency needed more information.
Mercury has been linked to brain and kidney damage at certain levels. Amalgams contain half mercury and half a combination of other metals.
So, mercury is only harmful for some individuals, eh? What a load! Then why all the warnings and special instructions on how to handle those energy-efficient CFL lightbulbs the fedgov has mandated we all switch over to—you know, the ones that have mercury in them? As this report notes, mercury sensitivity can vary widely, and some individuals with high levels can be asymptomatic. I don’t think that necessarily means no harm is being done, however. I especially love that bob and weave, “Well, we were wrong before, but we’ll get it right this time, you betcha! You can still trust us!”
It’s very interesting to me that these three topics—each of which has almost become an article of faith, such that skeptics and challengers are immediately branded with the dreaded “conspiracy theorist” appellation—are all now starting to crumble. I expect they will crumble very slowly, however. Part of that stems from the overweening hubris of government officials and bureaucrats—they want what’s best for everyone, after all, and they’re so cautious: how could they be led astray? Well, the mercury article offers a clue as to how:
Such a [stricter EPA] rule could impact makers of metal fillings, which include Dentsply International Inc and Danaher Corp unit Kerr.
In each of these cases, a large industry has developed, with the state’s blessing and backing (via corporate protectionism). One needn’t believe in any sort of conspiracy to recognize that moneyed interests always win out over individual interests before Congress—and thus, profit trumps individual health and well being. Medical models that treated human bodies as roughly equivalent machines are being shown to be woefully inadequate at handling the diversity inherent in mankind, which necessarily includes diversity of susceptibility to a host of things, and diversity in treatment efficacy. There’s no lobby or PAC for the individual at any level of current governance, precisely because we are all individuals. Thus the systems tend to win, at least in the short term, aided and abetted by the public indoctrination systems that work so well at keeping the populace’s thoughts in line with their masters’ wishes.
Deeply linked to the monetary issue is the liability issue. Many individuals have suffered as a result of the state’s mandates in each of these areas, and many more will suffer as the state continues to soft-pedal the real risks. In our litigate-at-the-drop-of-a-coffee-cup society, how will industrial and state systems withstand the onslaught of claims that would surely follow if the healthocrats were to clearly admit, “We were wrong; fluoridation/vaccination/mercury/et al. poses a real danger to some individuals and it isn’t easy to identify them beforehand. Sorry!”?
But wrong they are, and wrong and flawed they will continue to be shown to be. These stories, and a similar outbreak of news recently, revealing the failures of the FDA and related agencies at policing food and medical systems, are not isolated incidents. They reveal a fundamentally flawed set of systems, based on an untenable view of life and living—that they can be reduced and unitized and aggregated and collectivized and homogenized and systematized, and still be viable. They cannot.
Are you getting it now? Are you seeing the bigger picture? No matter what the original claims for public safety and health are, when a gang with guns gets behind any idea and makes it the rule of the land, a system will be formed to fill those niches. And inevitably, the economic force of that system becomes more important to the gang than individual health and safety. Thus are our lives sacrificed on the altar of the state.
You don’t have to believe these reports—you don’t need to agree with me. But the reality remains, all around each of us. If you doubt what I’m saying, choose one subject, one area, and look into the questioners’ claims. Yes, you’ll probably encounter some nuttery, but so what? Many of the great scientists who are now revered were considered somewhat nutty back in their days. Look at scientific claims and counterclaims; apply common sense and reason. If you do, and if you can be honest with yourself, I think you must come to agree with me. Frankly, I don’t care one whit about that; what is vitally important is that individuals realize that they have been deceived, and the truth hidden; and that they begin to think for themselves and choose their own paths.

And more...
Sunni,
Let me add another medical fraudster to the list: the cancer council...to that end, if you'd like to post the essay I sent you a few weeeks ago ('The Enemies of Promise') you'd be most welcome.
It's all Mallcity...where the prisons don't have bars, and private thoughts unrelated to consuming and obedience - are dangerous.
